Spectators are welcome to join the festival, probably get a big mud hug and watch the course and some obstacles in the spectator viewing area all at no cost. The more the merrier to rock on during a full day of bad-assery.

Divisions

Warrior Dash has the following divisions for men and women:

  • 14-19
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60+

Please note each wave consists of people from every age division. You may register for any available wave regardless of your age. Just choose the time you'd prefer to race when registering.

Timing

Warrior Dash Awards

Chip timing is used to record your time. The chip acts as a miniature transponder and is marked with a unique identification number corresponding to each Warrior. Participant's time is automatically recorded when crossing the electronic equipment at the start and finish.

Make sure your chip is positioned low to the ground (below the knee) and stays tightly attached to your shoe at the start and finish of the race in order to receive your time. To secure your chip:

  1. Un-lace one of your shoes half-way.
  2. Weave both laces through the open sides of the chip.
  3. Re-lace your shoe tightly. Due to the intensity of Warrior Dash, double-knotting is highly recommended.

Shoes don't have laces? Zipties will be available on site at the waiver tent to assist in securing your chip.

Obstacles

  • Some Warrior Dash obstacles require physical and mental strength and agility. You are not required to complete any obstacles and are free to skip any obstacles. It is your responsibility to determine whether you are physically or mentally able to attempt or complete any obstacle. Skipping an obstacle may disqualify you from receiving an award.
  • Course officials are stationed at every obstacle for participant safety.
  • It is the responsibility of the participant to notify course officials if the participant feels their safety is in danger or they are injured.
  • To learn more about Warrior Dash obstacles, please click HERE.

Is Warrior Dash Safe?

There's certainly risk involved in Warrior Dash, but we take every precaution possible to get you to the finish line safely. There will be paramedics and an ambulance on site in case of an emergency. You enter Warrior Dash at your own risk.

Can we compete with teams?

There's no team division, but you're welcome to Dash with some friends to help you through the obstacles.

I want to wear a crazy costume/run barefoot/etc?

You're good to go, as long as your costume or running shoes do not harm other participants. Keep in mind you will need to affix your chip timer to your foot (they work best attached to shoes, but zip ties will also be available at packet pick-up.)

I'm a spectator – now what?

Entrance to the festival is completely free and open to the public! Cheering on the Warriors and taking pictures in the festival and spectator viewing areas is highly encouraged. Outside food and drink is prohibited, but there will be plenty available for purchase. Personal tents and umbrellas are also prohibited, but there will be tables and umbrellas set up for public use. Only registered participants and approved media will be allowed on the race course. Dogs are allowed in the festival area and must remain leashed at all times.

OMG - This is so awesome. Could you please come to my area?

Keep an eye out for an expanded 2013 schedule.

I'm not in good shape. Can I do this?

Finishing Warrior Dash is more about mental toughness than being in great shape.

How does (insert obstacle here) work? Will (insert obstacle here) be scary/too difficult/dangerous?

What you see is what you get until race day. Click on your region's page for a detailed map of your Battleground course.

I'm terrified of a specific obstacle. Can I still participate?

You're expected to complete all obstacles. If you're unable to complete an obstacle you may bypass the obstacle and receive your finisher medal, although you'll be disqualified from all awards.

I can't swim. Can I participate in warrior dash?

You may have to swim while on the course, but if you aren't able, you can go around any water obstacles. There will be lifeguards on site.

Do you accept mail-in entries?

Sorry Charlie - online entries only.

Can kids compete?

Warrior Dash is only open to participants 14 years old and older.
For participants under 18 years old on race day, your parent or guardian must be present during on race day at packet pick-up to sign a waiver and release for you. So you signed up for warrior dash...now what?

It's time to train! Here at Warrior Dash, we understand that our race caters to athletes of all levels which is why we have created training programs for all kinds of Warriors.

What type of Warrior are you?

Virgin Warrior

Time to begin preparing for Warrior Dash so the guy in the bright pink tutu doesn't beat you. You are the Virgin Warrior - you own a set of dumbbells, but they are currently being used as doorstops and paperweights. You'd like to be more active, but thinking about it makes you tired and your TV schedule just won't allow it. The only thing getting you through this three mile obstacle course, is the thought of a cold beer and turkey leg waiting for you at the finish line. You don't want to win Warrior Dash - you just want to finish.

Begin your training six to seven weeks before the race. You should perform three of the listed strength exercises, two to three days a week. Make sure you cycle the exercises in order to achieve a full body workout. Read below for helpful gym and cardio timelines:

Strength Timeline:

Week 1-2: Pick your preferred three exercises and then perform each exercise for one minute, with a minute rest between exercises. Try to do as many reps as you can in that minute. *
Week 3-4: Exercise for two minutes with one minute rest between exercises. Do as many reps as you can in the two minutes.
Week 5-7: Exercise for two minutes with 30 seconds rest between exercises. Do as many reps as you can in the two minutes. Take two to three days off prior to Warrior Dash to ensure that your body is fully prepared for the Battleground.

Cardio Timeline:

Week 1-2: Run/walk for 30 minutes two times a week
Week 3-4: Run/walk for 30 minutes two times a week
Week 5-7: Run for 45 minutes three times week*

*Or do a cardio workout of your choice

Casual Warrior

Time to begin preparing for Warrior Dash so you don't have to lie about your time to your friends. You are the Casual Warrior - you try to make exercise a priority but your most consistent workout is making a sixth trip to the coffee machine. Hours logged in the gym have now become hours logged at work and late nights at the office lead to take-out dinners. Perhaps this is why your letterman jacket is a bit snug these days. You don't want to win Warrior Dash - you just want to beat the guy wearing a dress.

Begin training five to six weeks before Warrior Dash. You should perform four to five of the listed exercises, three to four days a week. Make sure you cycle the exercises in order to achieve a full body workout. Read below for helpful gym and cardio timelines:

Strength Timeline:
Week 1-2: Pick your preferred four to five exercises and then perform each exercise for one minute, with a minute rest between exercises. Try to do as many reps as you can in that minute!*
Week 3-4: Exercise for two minutes with one minute rest between exercises. Do as many reps as you can in the two minutes.
Week 5-6: Exercise for two minutes with 30 seconds rest between exercises. Do as many reps as you can in the two minutes. Take two to three days off prior to Warrior Dash to ensure that your body is full prepared for the Battleground. *

Cardio Timeline:

Week 1-2: Run for 30 minutes two times a week
Week 3-4: Run for 40 minutes two times a week
Week 5-6: Run for 45 minutes three times week*

*Or do a cardio workout of your choice

Ultimate Warrior

Time to begin preparing for Warrior Dash so you can step on the guy doing push ups in the start corral and not scream for your Mom. You are the Ultimate Warrior - a 5K run is considered a mere warm-up and pain is viewed as a necessary component of any challenge. Your diet consists mainly of protein and your sheer athleticism causes Chuck Norris to tremble. To you, there's nothing like the smell of sweat at 6am on a Saturday. The term "fear" does not exist in your vocabulary. You don't want to run Warrior Dash - you want to win it.

Begin training five to six weeks before Warrior Dash. You should perform four to five of the listed exercises, five to six days a week. Make sure you cycle the strength exercises in order to achieve a full body workout. Read below for helpful gym and cardio timelines:

Strength Timeline:
Week 1-2: Pick your preferred four to five exercises and then perform each exercise for one minute, with a 30 second rest between exercises. Try to do as many reps as you can in that minute. *
